At Margaret Campbell Psychology, we are committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and relevant professional and ethical guidelines.

Your information is collected, stored, and used solely for the purpose of providing you with high-quality psychological care.

Collection of Personal Information

We collect personal information that is necessary to provide psychological services, including but not limited to:

  • Contact details (name, date of birth, address, phone, email).

  • Referral information (e.g., GP or psychiatrist details, Medicare details, NDIS if applicable).

  • Relevant medical, psychological, developmental, educational, legal, and social history.

  • Session notes and clinical assessments.

  • Information from third parties (with your consent), such as reports from schools, GPs, psychiatrists, caseworkers, or other allied health providers.

Use of Personal Information

Your personal information is used for the purposes of:

  • Providing assessment, treatment, and ongoing care.

  • Coordinating care with other relevant professionals (with your consent).

  • Preparing reports, letters, or treatment summaries as required.

  • Meeting legal, ethical, or professional obligations.

AI-Assisted Clinical Note-Taking (PatientNote)

To support accurate documentation, with your informed consent, Margaret Campbell Psychology may use AI-assisted software (PatientNote).

  • What PatientNote Records: Only your first and last name are entered. No other identifying or sensitive details are stored in the platform.

  • Data Storage: All data is deleted by PatientNote after 30 days.

  • Security: PatientNote complies with strict security standards.

  • Purpose: This tool is used only to assist in preparing clear, accurate clinical notes and assessments.

  • Voluntary Use: You may opt out of AI-assisted note-taking at any time, without any impact on the care you receive.

  • Review: All notes are reviewed and finalised by the treating psychologist before being stored securely.

Storage and Security of Records

  • Records are stored securely in electronic and/or paper format.

  • Access is restricted to authorised personnel only.

  • Records are retained for a minimum of 7 years after the last contact, or if the client is under 18, until the client turns 25 (whichever is longer), in line with professional guidelines.

Disclosure of Information

Your personal information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, except when:

  • Required by law (e.g., court subpoena).

  • There is an immediate and serious risk of harm to yourself or others.

  • Required for professional supervision (information is de-identified wherever possible).

Access and Correction

You have the right to request access to your personal information and request corrections if it is inaccurate. Requests can be made in writing to Margaret Campbell Psychology.
